Foong-Yue Cheah

Foong-Yue isn’t one to sit still and is a firm believer that “luck” is when preparation meets opportunity.

Driven by her own experience as a first generation immigrant, Foong-Yue owes her “luck” today to her parents and their sacrifice to overcome racial, gender and economic barriers. They fought for quality education and job opportunities so that she can live free from repression and with power in her voice.

She believes that the ability to speak – to be heard and counted – is a right and the solutions lie in our ability to action change.

In between keeping the ducks in order at The Echo Project and her day job as a procurement category manager, Foong-Yue is the founder of active wear label Material Witness, a social enterprise existing to empower other women and girls from disadvantage through equal employment and education initiatives.
